Garden Tools

Xylan® Coatings

Whitford coatings suited for garden tool applications.

Typical Application Product Code Description
Commercial loppers and axe blades. 1010 Resin-bonded, thermosetting, PTFE based dry-film lubricant/easy-clean coating designed for conventional spray techniques. It is used to reduce friction and prevent scoring and galling.
Pruner and lopper blades. 1014 and 1015 Resin-bonded, thermosetting, dry-film lubricant designed for conventional spray techniques which, when compared to Xylan 1010 contains significantly more bonding resin relative to its content of PTFE lubricant. It produces finishes which are harder, more abrasion-resistant, glossier, and less porous. Frictional values remain low and very predictable.
Saw and mower blades. 1270 Resin-bonded, tough, PTFE based coating designed for application by conventional spray. If offers good protection against atmospheric corrosion.
Any cutting blades where good corrosion resistance is the key criteria, while maintaining some low-friction, e.g. saw blades. 1400 A chemical and corrosion resistant coating intended for application by conventional spray techniques.
Cutting blades (e.g., lopper blades) where waterborne, VOC compliant coating is preferred. 1424 This VOC compliant, resin-bonded, PTFE based coating is primarily formulated to prevent corrosion. It is intended for conventional spray techniques.
Waterborne option for knife blades. 1454 Resin-bonded, FEP-based, release coating designed for conventional spray techniques.
Military knives and accessories. 1514 This resin bonded, decorative and durable coating is designed to be applied by conventional spray techniques.
Shears and pruner blades. 1585S Low-cure coating containing silicone as the nonstick additive. It is suitable for electrostatic application methods as well as conventional air spray.
Cutting blades used for food preparation. 8515 Resin bonded, decorative, food-safe and durable coating, designed to be applied by conventional spray techniques.
Hunting and camping knives. 8530 Chemical resistant coating, able to withstand a wide range of chemicals including dishwasher solutions.
Pruner and lopper blades. 8585S Low cure coating containing silicone as the nonstick additive. It is suitable for electrostatic and rotary disk application methods as well as conventional air spray.
Kitchen knives. 8610 Low cure coating with easy-clean additives. It is suitable for electrostatic and conventional air spray.
